I remember the night he won in 2008, you literally felt positivity and hope in the air! I remembered thinking, I never thought this day would ever come. A black president!! Having a mother who, as a child was only able to use "blacks only" bathrooms in the south or a grandfather being beaten because he was a black man walking in the wrong neighborhood, or for myself, being profiled and arrested because of what I look like. Words can not begin to express the emotions that I feel when I can now look back in history and see that a black family who represented my culture and community well.
Having the most death threats, being the most disrespected, and being fought against so hard, the Obamas handled everything with grace and class. Now some children only know a black president and First Lady as the norm. By no means does his historic Administration means we're done. We still have a long way to go, unfortunately. However, etched in history is one of the best representations of unity, love and hope, in family and the community. Thank you President and First Lady. Job well done.
Hope you enjoy!!
