Back story: I started graduate school in 2009 and due to extenuating circumstances I had to stop going in 2013. The extenuating circumstances, to be frank, was no drive, foolish activity, and no sense of direction. I literally gave up! However, since I stopped going in 2013, I was so unsettled. I became very disappointed in myself because I knew I was better than what I had become.
One of my mentors, who ironically is a psychiatrist (lol), reminded me of who I am and what I posses inside of me. She challenged me!! She called me out on my BS!! While also encouraging me!! Every excuse I tried to give, she shut me down!! After leaving her office I knew I needed to make a change. God has a way of using the most unlikely people to get His plan across!!
For the last 4 years, I've been waiting on God to make things happen as it relates to my career and especially school. Ultimately, it was up to me to make a move! I reapplied to graduate school about a month ago and was accepted!! I had no clue how I was going to pay for it, literally no plan!! In comes a graduate scholarship opportunity at my church for graduate students which has NEVER happened before. Returning to school has not been easy, but God has been in the midst of EVERYTHING!! This is a process that I know I have to trust God to get through. But God. Will. Get. The. Glory!! See you when I walk across that stage!!
Now on to the #ootd! For scholarship Sunday, the saints were asked to wear their school's or fraternity's paraphernalia. Unfortunately the only thing I had was a sweatshirt and did not have time to grab something. So I decided to have a little fun with my look instead, with a deconstructed edgy dress.
I love this dress!! It's juxtaposition at its best!!! The asymmetrical hem, the deconstructed sleeves, and the feminine color, is my style wrapped up in one look. Complicated yet cohesive!!
To keep with the edginess of the look I added a double strap grommet belt and gladiator boots.
Hope you enjoy!!
